DOVE:REAL BEAUTY FOR REAL WOMEN

DOVE IS BRINGING REAL BEAUTY TO REAL WOMEN!

So, are we all finally getting the message? Those cover models are not as perfect as they seem. The time has come to yank the mask off of Madison Avenue's dirty little secret, those are not real women staring out at us from the magazine covers. Dove is bringing real beauty to real women, finally!

Ladies, advertisers don't just retouch pictures of their models, they digitally enhance them. Seriously, they photo shop the pictures! They take the pictures of the models, who are already gorgeous, and reshape their faces, move facial features, and re size their bodies. As if most of us don't feel bad enough about our bodies, they are slimming down women who are already a size 2.

Dove has chosen to take a different route. They are showing the real beauty of real women. We all saw their ad campaign last year of the normal sized women in their underwear, well now they are taking the lid off of the tricks advertises use to enhance pictures. I think it's brilliant!

Now, I don't believe their reasons are altruistic, it's a clever marketing strategy, instead of selling us on how we wish we look, they are selling us on the idea that we are fabulous just as we are. Whatever their agenda may be, it's a message that's long overdue, and you can see for yourself at http://www.dove.com.

You know the average women wears a size 16, and their average weight is 145lbs. I think it's high time we all realize that we don't have to be a size 0 to be beautiful. As a matter of fact, I think it's more attractive to be a few pounds over the average than under (as long as you are at a healthy weight.) And that's really where the attention should be, health.

So, stop beating yourself up because you ate that piece of chocolate cake. Celebrate if you've graduated from a size 4 to 6. Concentrate on your health and emotional well being and you will be a happier person, and there's nothing more beautiful than happiness.
